Suvarnabhumi » Airports of Thailand gave Loxley a month to improve security service at Suvarnabhumi
Tuesday, September 4th, 2007The Airports of Thailand (AOT) board yesterday agreed not to revoke the 10-year contract for the provision of security services at Suvarnabhumi with the Loxley-ICTS consortium, and gave the consortium a month to improve its performance. Board spokesman Chirmsak Pinthong said the board decided not to revoke the contract under several conditions.
The consortium must maintain the number of security guards at Suvarnabhumi at the levels stated in the contract and also boost their quality and qualifications. There must be also no security incidents at the airport.
The AOT board will have police and military officers make inspections of how all security guards from the Loxley-ICTS consortium perform their tasks at the airport, said Mr Chirmsak.
‘’Our information shows that the Loxley-ICTS service is not satisfactory. If the one-month grace period comes to an end and the consortium has not improved the quality of its service, or any security incidents take place in the period, the board will immediately revoke the hiring contract,'’ said the board spokesman.
The board also agreed to pay the consortium service fees of 90 million baht, which covers two instalments , said Mr Chirmsak.
Loxley-ICTS has sent AOT invoices for four service fee instalments, totalling 180.65 million baht.
The board agreed to pay only two as the consortium failed to present certain documents required for the disbursement of the remaining two, said Suvarnabhumi director Serirat Prasutanond
