Suvarnabhumi » Airports of Thailand will decide on Loxley’s security contract today
Sunday, July 20th, 2008
Airports of Thailand (AOT) board will today discuss the future of the contract hiring the Loxley-ICTS Consortium to provide security at Suvarnabhumi airport, a source said yesterday.
The board put off its decision whether or not to terminate the 10-year contract when it met last week, claiming there was not sufficient information.
According to the source, some board members disagreed with the idea of terminating the contract for fear it would disrupt security operations at the new Bangkok airport.
Also on the meeting agenda is a proposed budget of 500 million baht to pay for the repair and maintenance of Suvarnabhumi airport.
A budget of 600 million baht had been approved earlier when problems were found after the new Bangkok airport’s opening in late September last year.
Karn Thongyai, managing director of Asia Security Management, part of the Loxley-ICTS Consortium, said yesterday the consortium wanted to negotiate with the AOT board if possible
