Police to clean up unlicensed taxi and illegal tour guide at Suvarnabhumi Airport
Tuesday, June 5th, 2007Police have vowed to rid Suvarnabhumi airport of unlicensed black-plate taxis and illegal tour guides within 15 days.
Pol Maj-Gen Wut Liptapanlop, deputy chief of Police Region 1, said the new Bangkok airport has been plagued with the problem of black-plate taxis overcharging passengers. It was reported that there are more than 30 groups operating unlicensed black-plate taxis at the airport, each with 10-100 cabs.
Acting national police chief named as a new Airports of Thailand’s board member
Monday, June 4th, 2007Airports of Thailand will today name acting national police chief Seripisuth Temiyavej as a new board member to help crack down on stubborn mafia-type gangs at Suvarnabhumi airport.
At Friday 1 June, 2007’s meeting of the Airports of Thailand board, chaired by Saprang Kalayanamitr, the issue of adding a new member would be discussed and Pol Gen Seripisuth, who is known for his tough action against criminals, would be the first choice, a Transport Ministry source said.

Sunday, May 27th, 2007Starting June 1, 2007, The Transport Ministry’s Aviation Department will enforce its rule requiring air passengers to display liquids, gels and sprays in transparent containers before boarding flights, Director-General Chaisak Angkasuwan said Saturday.
Mr. Chaisak said he had met representatives of Airports of Thailand (AOT), airlines and King Power, contracted for duty free and other business at Suvarnabhumi airport, regarding the measure, which will be enforced both on domestic and international routes beginning June 1.
