Jetstar to Land at Suvarnabhumi Airport Friday, September 15, 2006
Wednesday, September 13th, 2006Singapore-based “Jetstar Asia”’s chief executive officer Chong Phit Lian is confident that everything will be ready when the company lands the first international commercial flights at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Friday (September 15, 2006).
“During test runs, the luggage claim took only ten minutes, which was quite fascinating, and we are certain that our flights will run smoothly on Friday” said Chong.
Airlines are expected to shift all domestic and international flight service from Bangkok International Airport (Don Muang) to Suvarnabhumi Airport by September 28.
On board one of the Jetstar flights on Friday will be Jetstar Australia CEO Alan Joyce.
Bangkok Airways early move to Suvarnabhumi, September 21, 2006
Friday, September 8th, 2006Bangkok Airways announced it would take off at the Suvarnabhumi Airport from September 21st onwards. A week prior to the official opening of the mega airport due on September 28th.
This premier phase of the Boutique Airline’s operation will include flights to and from Sukhothai, Chiang Mai, Samui, Jinghong (Xixuangbanna), and Shenzhen.
In line with such event, the airline is introducing special return fares from Suvarnabhumi to Jinghong (Xixuangbanna) at 6,000 Baht; to Shenzhen at 6,000 Baht; and to Samui at 4,000 Baht. However, fares to Sukhothai and Chiang Mai remain as normal market fares.
Thai Airways, American Express contract with UN agencies
Friday, September 8th, 2006Thai Airways on Thursday inked an accord with major UN agencies providing for special fares and considerations for international agencies, while American Express will serve as the sole travel agent dealing with the UN in Thailand.
A Memorandum of Understanding on a THAI Corporate Partnership Programme was signed Friday by United Nations agencies in Thailand, Thai Airways International Pcl, and American Express (Thai) Co., Ltd Thursday at the Headquarters of Thai Airways International in Bangkok.
The ceremony was witnessed by Kim Hak-Su, UN Under Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), Flying Officer Apinan Sumanaseni, President of Thai Airways; and American Express.
