THAI Air to Migrate to Suvarnabhumi Airport

Thai Airways InternationalThai Airways International Public Company Limited announced readiness of the company’s six main activities to migrate to Suvarnabhumi Airport, which are prepared to transfer equipment and personnel.

Mr. Kobchai Srivilas, Senior Executive Vice President, Advisor for Special Projects, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, said that the company has prepared to migrate operations of its six main activities, those being Cargo and Mail Commercial, Ground Support Equipment Services, Catering Services, Aircraft Maintenance Center, Customer Services, and Operations Center.

Suvarnabhumi Airport set to open on Sept 28, ( Thailand )

Suvarnabhumi First FlightThe opening date of the Suvarnabhumi International Airport was set recently by the government commmittee on management and development of the new airport, Deputies Transport Minister Gen.Chainant Charoensiri and Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai told a press conference after a meeting here Wednesday with the board of directors of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI), the national flag carrier.

Suvarnabhumi Airport is now set to open for commercial purposes on September 28, the Transport Ministry announced here on Wednesday.

Focus on Safety and Security at Suvarnabhumi Airport

Thailand attaches great importance to safety and security at the new Suvarnabhumi Airport. In his keynote address at the 10th East Asia-Pacific Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction on August 3 in Bangkok, Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra stated that, as safety and security are uppermost in Thailand’s consideration, further trial runs and operations testing involving international flights are envisaged.

Referring to the first commercial test flights and system tests for Suvarnabhumi Airport on July 29, the Prime Minister said that he and a number of Cabinet members took part in the test flights, which went perfectly. He cited Suvarnabhumi Airport, which will be officially opened this September, as one of the country’s most impressive achievements.
