Special tour packages for transit passengers at Suvarnabhumi Airport Bangkok Thailand
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009Thailand’s tourism related agencies on Monday (1 June 2009) launched 15 special tour packages in Bangkok and its environs to attract transfer passengers making stopovers of 12 hours or less at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport, in an attempt to boost the country’s tourism industry.
The campaign which targets transit passenger has been jointly launched by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the Airports of Thailand (AoT), the Immigration Bureau, Thai Airways International (THAI), and the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA).
TAT chairman Veerasak Kowsurat said that the campaign is aimed at boosting the country’s economy and increasing local incomes.
World largest passenger airliner’s first commercial flight landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport Thailand
Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009The world’s largest passenger airliner, an Airbus A380 of Emirates airlines, landed Monday night at Suvarnabhumi Airport in its first commercial flight to Bangkok.
Flight EK 372 arrived at 7pm with 432 passengers on board from Dubai. The airlines purchased two superjumbos to service two routes, Dubai - Bangkok and Dubai - Toronto.
EK 372 took off from Emirates, Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport, at 09:40 hours carrying 488 passengers. It landed to a festive welcome by the Thai government at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport at 19:00 hours.
Airlines back to normal operations at Suvarnabhumi Bangkok Airport Thailand
Tuesday, December 9th, 2008- Thai Airways International and Cathay Pacific Airways resumed normal flights at Suvarnabhumi from 11am 5 December 2008 after the airport formally reopens, while other major airlines will resume scheduled flights in the coming days. Thai Airways‘ emergency check-in counters at Bitec were closed, with its counters at Suvarnabhumi open from 6am since last Friday.
- Emirates, Qantas and Jet Airways announced the resumption of normal commercial flights from Suvarnabhumi from Saturday 6 December 2008. Jet Airways has already operated two flights from New Delhi to Suvarnabhumi on that day.
