Suvarnabhumi Airport Cargo



Bonded warehouse area at Suvarnabhumi airport to be expanded

The bonded warehouse area at Suvarnabhumi airport will be expanded and separated from the under-utilised customs-free cargo zone, Deputy Transport Minister Sansern Wongcha-um said.

Existing bonded warehouses managed by Thai Airways (THAI) and Bangkok Flight Services would be enlarged to satisfy growing cargo demand.

The expanded areas would be located north and south of the customs-free zone.




Customs free zone split up at Suvarnabhumi Airport will be reviewed today

The government will meet today to debate whether to split the customs-free zone at Suvarnabhumi Airport to help improve operations.

Sansern Wongcha-um, the deputy finance minister, said that drafting a new zoning plan with normal export and import operations separated from the customs-free zone was one possibility to be reviewed by the committee, which is chaired by Interim Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont.




Suvarnabhumi Airport - to become regional hub

Suvarnabhumi Airport, able to move six million tonnes of freight per year, which began full commercial operations September 28–is on its way to becoming Southeast Asia’s regional cargo hub.

Supachai Kaewsiri, director of the Information Technology Division of Thai Airport Ground Services (TAGS), said that his firm has invested Bt 700 million in establishing its Airport Cargo Community System (ACCS) connected with the cargo network of the newly opened airport in Bangkok.
