Airports of Thailand gave Loxley a month to improve security service at Suvarnabhumi
Wednesday, April 4th, 2007The Airports of Thailand (AOT) board yesterday agreed not to revoke the 10-year contract for the provision of security services at Suvarnabhumi with the Loxley-ICTS consortium, and gave the consortium a month to improve its performance. Board spokesman Chirmsak Pinthong said the board decided not to revoke the contract under several conditions.
The consortium must maintain the number of security guards at Suvarnabhumi at the levels stated in the contract and also boost their quality and qualifications. There must be also no security incidents at the airport.
Airports of Thailand will decide on Loxley’s security contract today
Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007Airports of Thailand (AOT) board will today discuss the future of the contract hiring the Loxley-ICTS Consortium to provide security at Suvarnabhumi airport, a source said yesterday.
The board put off its decision whether or not to terminate the 10-year contract when it met last week, claiming there was not sufficient information.
According to the source, some board members disagreed with the idea of terminating the contract for fear it would disrupt security operations at the new Bangkok airport.
Security tightens at Suvarnabhumi Airport
Saturday, March 3rd, 2007Security measures at Bangkok Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi Airport were tightened Saturday, March 3, 2007, Makha Bucha Day, an important Buddhist religious occasion, following earlier warnings by security officials that an unprecedented bombing could take place in Thailand.
Suvarnabhumi Airport director Serirat Prasutanont said some airport exits were closed and added security personnel are patrolling the area. In addition, some passengers were being searched more thoroughly on a random basis before they entered the airport building.
